Tiny, Contemporary Cabins Available at NY's Farm Sanctuary

Staying in a tiny house is a lot more common now than a few years ago. Tiny hotels, Airbnb and other services make tiny homes available to nearly everyone. But maybe your tiny house vacation can also make a difference? Farm Sanctuary in Watkins Glen, New York has several contemporary tiny cottages available for short or extended stays—right next to the 175 acre farm’s cattle, pigs, chickens and turkeys.

Each of the 384 square foot homes have clean lines and colorful details.

Farm Sanctuary (the organization has other farms in Northern and Southern California) is the nation’s largest and most effective farm animal rescue and protection organization. At the farm the animals are not food, but are used to educate millions of people about the plight of factory farming on health and environment. The organization advocates for laws and policies to prevent suffering and create institutional reforms.

Each tiny house can sleep two adults and two children.

The Watkins Glen location has three 384 square foot tiny homes for rent. Each of the homes have a porch, queen bed, futon and a kitchen with refrigerator, sink and stove. The tiny houses also have a TV with DVD player, washer and dryer, bathroom with shower and WiFi.

The contemporary design also has a shaded front porch.

Each of the homes are named after special members of the Farm Sanctuary family. Marjorie’s House is named after a goat, Amy’s House is named after a sheep, and Turpentine’s House is named after a popular turkey. Each of the animals were rescued from neglectful and abusive ranches or farms.

Farm Sanctuary is the nation’s largest farm animal rescue organization.

Farm Sanctuary rents out the tiny cottages from May through October and rates start at $275 per night. The farm also rents out 346 square feet cabins without bathrooms that can fit up to five people.
