How to cool down on a hot day

Image
The bulk of Australia is once again bracing for a scorching heatwave. Not all of us have the luxury of airconditioning ... some of us have to make do with alternative methods. WITHOUT stating the bleeding obvious, it is hellishly hot in some parts of Australia at the moment. And unfortunately, not all of us are lucky enough to live in palatial mansions with airconditioning units. As such we’ve compiled some ‘hacks’ that will keep you cool during this heatwave. This basset hound knows where it’s at. Picture: iStock Source: istock Make the most of your fan (if you have one) * It’s important to remember that a fan will cool your body, but not a room — so don’t leave it switched on when you’re out of the room. * To boost the effectiveness of the fan, spritz your face with cold water from a water bottle before sitting in front of the fan. * You can also place a tray of ice in front of the fan for an extra icy blast ( Apartment Therapy shows how it’s done). * It’s also a good idea (if it’s...

Non-Traditional Bridal Shower Themes and Ideas

For some people, sitting around in a circle playing cheesy games and watching someone open gifts for an hour sounds like a grand old time. But if you're among the many for whom that sounds like a total nightmare, don't worry. The non- traditional bridal shower is here to save you. Why Should You Have a Non-Traditional Bridal Shower? A bridal shower is a centuries-old tradition that was meant to help a bride set up her new home. But nowadays, many brides are older and have already set up a home. Their cupboards are already full of pots, pans, and dishes, but they still want to be celebrated by their friends. And it seems that the older a bride gets, the less she -- or her friends -- wants to play bridal shower games . So if you fall into the camps of "the bride already has enough stuff" and " bridal shower games are dumb," a non- traditional shower is probably the way to go. Another reason to break with tradition? If you want to celebrate someone who...

Their focus is on great service and high performance. Second segment is called standard. Customers in this segment rely on plumber recommendation and emphasize performance and service. Hangover Beers? | Page 2 | Community

Let's define hangovers. There's many different levels. Epic IMO is a few times in a lifetime, it usually involves Tequila, shots of Jack, or extreme over use of Vodka, and non stop puking for 24 hours. There is nothing here that helps except time, forget food, forget water, a cold shower and puking is all there is. Death may be preferable. There's a more moderate level where you get the spins and you puke a bit, and feel a bit shitty the next day. Food nah, but a McDonalds commercial doesn 't make you retch, beer fuck no. A cold shower, maybe by lunch you can choke down crackers , by dinner your going to live. Entry level - a bit too much, feel kinda shitty at sunrise, a cold shower , a bit of food and water kinda works . You feel human by 1 pm or so. By dinner your fine.

Hostels in Cusco, Peru

This article has links to products and services we love, which we may make commission from. We’ve decided to ‘lay roots’ in Cusco which in travellers terms means stay for more than three days. This has meant we can test different hostels in Cusco, Peru for you and report back on where to stay in this small city. Kokopelli I love this hostel. If you are looking for an electric vibe in the touristy area this is The One. Kokopelli is a chain of hostels, they also offer accommodation in Lima, Paracas and Mancora (both Paracas and Mancora have swimming pools) so we were keen to try one out. The hostel offers 10, 8, 6, 4 and 3 bunk dorms; private rooms and uniquely an 8 bed ‘pod’ room (room 105). The hostel really caters for all budgets. For our first night we stayed in the 10 bed dorm with a private bathroom and a door which directly opens on to the garden (33 soles / £7). Cute. Each bed has a wooden box ‘locker’ big enough to store your backpack for safety. The usual issues come with a l...
